My God, but it's been a long time since I posted something here. Seems a few things have changed in the ol' Blogosphere while I was away.
Well, Edmonton has a brand-new mayor. Most people figured he'd be the "show" horse in this race, but a sudden and seemingly inexplicable bounce in the final week before the election put him back in the hunt, and he ended up walking away with it all, blowing away the long-standing incumbent and relegating the poor bastard everyone thought would win to a distant third. I'm actually intrigued by local politics for a change.
The provincial election is up soon--little hope for change there--but all eyes are cast southward, where a far more important election will soon be happening. Like most of my fellow Canadians (at least according to a recent poll), I am fervently hoping that W will not prevail over JFK II. Otherwise, our neighbour will continue to spiral downward into the arrogance, ignorance and pathetic fear that are becoming, more than ever, the psychological profile of the Ugly American.
