For no particular reason, I remembered the other day that kids in my high-school days used to use the word "jocular" to describe a guy who had jock-like qualities.
This misappropriated adjective used to bug me. Hey, I'm not saying I was any less a dumbass in high school than anyone else, but at least I knew what "jocular" meant.
On the other hand, the linguistic logic almost makes sense. Think "tubular," "circular" or "spectacular." But correct is correct, which is why I will refrain from describing those kids as "moronular."
