Night of the Lepus

Not long ago, I saw this YouTube video of a rabbit attacking a crow.

Figured it must be pretty rare, a cute little bunny going after a bird like that. I mean, outside of Monty Python movies, rabbits aren't vicious, right?

Maybe not so much. Last night, I saw a couple of rabbits kill a magpie in the back alley behind our place. The magpie kept making these awful drawn-out shrieks that sounded like a small child. The rabbits kept at it until the bird's cries stopped.

A lot of people don't like magpies. I don't mind them myself. But anyone who heard those shrieks would have felt sorry for this one.

Whyte Ave: the odd knifing, murder, cops beating unarmed women and now magpie killings?? It's like the Northside! :)

The rabbit in the video looks like a jack rabbit, definitely not someone's pet thank goodness!

I get woken up at 4 am every morning by magpies. So I definitely understand why people hate them. I actually cringe every time I hear one because it reminds me of being torn from the comfort of deep sleep. Every single morning.
