Vicious Cycle

Is there anything on earth that makes someone look as stupid as falling off a bicycle?

Walking home from work today, I saw a cyclist guy approaching from the other direction. He had on all the standard-issue gear-geek equipment--helmet, spandex shorts, even the dorky little Lance Armstrong spandex shirt. As he slowly climbed a gentle rise in the path, his front tire veered left for no discernible reason. The rest of the bike, however, kept going straight, pitching the poor bastard forward and downward into the pavement. Before I could reach him, another cyclist who had passed me stopped and asked the guy if he was OK. The guy looked shaken and confused at his sudden turn of fortune, but otherwise unharmed. The other cyclist went on his way.

As I strolled by the fallen guy, he was still peering at his bike, utterly mystified. I had to physically will myself not to break out into a huge, shit-eating grin. It was just funny, you know?
